Pixel Picks. XVI

Pixel Picks – occasional links from around the web: interviews, articles, essays, poetry, fiction and non.

This one brings Ali Smith (always), angry females, libraries and trees, literary movements, and walking tunes.

Enjoy.

One of my favourite lit mags, Five Dials, published an Ali Smith short story titled The Female GaysI’m a hoe for anything Ali Smith, and this one is top notch (the rest of issue 44 is killa too – centred around The Female Gaze – go read it).

Literature Needs Angry Female Heroes. Nuff said really.

I’ve often mused on the connection between books and trees, and found it near impossible to articulate my thoughts. Thankfully Rebecca Solnit has done it for me.

Lit Hub has compiled a handy pocket guide to Literature’s many movements. Prepare to be schooled on Beats, Black Arts, and Flarf.

I’ve been obsessed with the concept of the Flâneur ever since I encounted it at university, and so I loved (so much!) Lauren Elkin’s Flâneuse. Elkin has compiled a playlist for her book. Let the walking commence!
